Carbon negative coffee

We're excited to reintroduce Costa Rican coffee at Kiss the Hippo. Diego Robles of Aquiares selected his favourite lots from this years Costa Rica Harvest for us to sample, from these we selected two from the same producer, Matías Monge, last years Cup of Excellence winner and finalist again this harvest.

This lot is 100% Typica, the oldest known coffee variety. Dating back to the 15th century, Typica is also known as Jamaica Blue Mountain.  Although higher-yielding but lower-quality varietals have largely replaced Typica in Costa Rica, dedicated farmers are committed to preserving this historic variety. Despite a limited harvest, the quality is outstanding.

A delicious jammy profile is created by the Typica's inherent berry notes and the extended fermentation process also imparts a rich, fig-like sweetness. The perfect coffee for the colder months ahead.
